The Iowa Junior High Wrangler Division was established in August of 2004. Competition is open to boys and girls in the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade and gives them the opportunity to be involved in the sport of rodeo before they become high school age.
The junior high division was established by the National High School Rodeo Association. These cowboys and cowgirls will be given the opportunity to not only win awards and prizes on a state level but also win college scholarships at the national level.
Contestants will collect points throughout the rodeo season and bring these points into the Iowa Wrangler Junior High Finals. The top four contestants in each event whom has the highest points accumulated throught the year and from the finals will then have the chance to compete at the Junior High National Finals Rodeo. The National Finals brings together the top contestants from all over the United States. Last Year the first Iowa Wrangler Division Nationals team was made up of 18 contestants and over all team Iowa was in the top 15.
The Iowa Wrangler Division is open to all levels of experience. Our goal is to have as many junior high kids be involved as possible. We promote family, good self-esteem, self-confidence and the great sport of rodeo and establish many long lasting friendships along the way. We are taking memberships for the 2006 rodeo season. The top 4 contestants from each event will be eligible to compete at the Wrangler Junior High National Finals.
